Pocket parks are small areas of land that average around the size of a tennis court and are usually in urban areas. Existing pocket parks are used for everything from a quiet escape from busy city life to physical exercise, growing vegetables, children’s play and community events.
The Pocket parks scheme can provide funding of up to £15,000 to create a new park and up to £25,000 to refurbish and regenerate an existing park.
If you think your area would benefit from more open, green and community focused spaces then pocket parks could be the ideal choice for you. If you are a member of a community group or would be willing to suggest the scheme to those who are, visit https://www.gov.uk/government/news/1-million-funding-for-communities-to-create-their-own-pocket-parks for more information and to apply.
